Aerospace Technology

Aerospace technology is an introductory course to all the engineering disciplines involved in the current developments of aeronautical and space systems. Given the variety and complexity of these technologies, the content of the course tries to cover the fundamental systems that, in turn, allow a first understanding of the solutions adopted in the different subjects.

This includes the description of the standard atmosphere and the fundamentals of meteorology, fluid mechanics and aerodynamics. With these bases, the shapes of the airplanes their implications in the mechanics of flight are analysed. The types of engines and their elements are also part of the coverage of the course, which reviews in a descriptive way the rest of subsystems of the plane: hydraulic, electrical, fuel, etc.

Conference by Francisco Escartí, director of Technologic Development at Boeing R&T Europe

Francisco Escartí, current General Director of the technological development center that BOEING has in Europe and former General Manager of Iberia, delivered a conference in which he spoke about issues related to light materials, air traffic management, unmanned aircraft and fuel cells. The conference has been organized by the Aerospace Engineering Area. Escartí has a privileged view of the Spanish and global aerospace sector, acquired not only in its current position in Boeing Research & Technology Europe (BR&TE), but also in its long trajectory in which it has occupied positions of responsibility related to the aerospace sector.

CFD

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a branch of fluid mechanics that allows, with the help of a computer, to simulate the movement of a fluid and its heat transfer through numerical calculation, thus allowing to predict the phenomena that will occur in it in a quantitative way, based on the conservation laws that govern the movement of fluids.

Therefore, it is a really interesting element in engineering, both at an educational and professional level.
