The Aerospace Engineering Area of ​​the University of León has participated in the IX Meeting on Space Telecommunications organized by HISPASAT at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) in Santander on June 28 and 29, 2018.

The meeting addresses the current state of the space communications sector, bringing together the most important stakeholders, both national and international. First executives of the companies that build, launch and operate the satellites discussed for two days about the main concerns that affect the sector.

Curso de verano "La exploración espacial: una visión científico-tecnológica"

El curso persigue difundir los elementos fundamentales de la Exploración Espacial desde distintas perspectivas, y para ello analizará diferentes temas que son representativos de las componentes científica, tecnológica y organizativa de dicha actividad en el panorama actual. También se abordarán algunas de las contribuciones españolas más relevantes a este campo.

Los participantes, hasta un máximo de 70 alumnos, podrán conocer cuál es el interés científico que impulsa esta exploración, cuáles son los desafíos tecnológicos presentes y futuros que se plantean, y los detalles más relevantes de la participación de nuestro país, así como las principales organizaciones que la promueven.

The development of stratospheric platforms is on-vogue as evidenced by the interest shown by the space sector in the HAP4ESA congress organized by the European Space Agency. More than 200 participants with promising proposals to promote the development of stratospheric flight systems (pseudo-satellites), both in applications of communications and Earth Observation. Among the invited speakers, two engineers from University of León, and two additional posters.

The Minister of Development, Ana Pastor, placed Leon "as a good example" in technological innovation through engineers and engineers who are trained at the University of León and "spearhead in technological innovation in the air sector and also in the world of drones ». The holder of the portfolio of Development in functions extolled the commitment being made by the academic world of Leon for these "strategic" sectors during the signing of the agreement that will allow the School of Engineering to have the license to use the Sacta system -during the next four years and with automatic annual extensions-, the same one used by air traffic controllers from more than 90 countries and whose software is owned by the Government of Spain.
