On May 28, 2018, the Aerospace Engineering Department of the University of León, as part of its Aerospace Engineering Seminar Series, organized a set of presentations to showcase the technical resources and capabilities of the Spanish Army regarding rocket systems and anti-aircraft missiles.

The presentations were delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Escalante Martínez (Head of the Field Rocket Launcher Group I/63) and Lieutenant Colonel Alfredo Hurtado Gutiérrez (Chief of Staff of the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Command).

The event, primarily aimed at students enrolled in the Rockets and Missiles course but open to any student interested in the topic, allowed attendees to learn about the technical specifications and operational capabilities of the systems currently in service with the Spanish Army, as well as the current needs and future acquisition programs. This activity is especially relevant given that Spanish aerospace engineers are officially recognized as qualified to work in the design, development, and other engineering aspects of air defense systems, including ballistics, missiles, and aerial platforms.
